An Air Handling Unit (AHU) is an important part of a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system. It helps to circulate and condition air inside buildings like offices, hospitals, factories, malls, and schools. The main job of an AHU is to take in outside air, filter it, cool or heat it, and then send it inside the building through ducts. It also removes stale indoor air and replaces it with fresh air.
An AHU is usually a large metal box that contains several components. These parts work together to clean, heat or cool, and move the air. Common components include:
Filters: These remove dust, pollen, and other particles from the air. This helps improve air quality.
Heating and Cooling Coils: These control the temperature of the air. The coil either heats the air in winter or cools it in summer using hot or cold water, or refrigerant.
Blower or Fan: This moves the air through the unit and into the building through ducts.
Dampers: These control the flow of air. They can open or close to let in more or less air.
